WPV-CERT is building an all new curriculum, based on the best of classes given in the past, and adding some new things. Check back here to see new classes.  Currently scheduled sessions can be found on the Events page. They are also listed beneath the class descriptions below.

CERT Basic Training

Learn the basics of preparing yourself, your family, and your home for emergencies. You will gain skills and knowledge useful in any emergency. And you will learn how to get your neighbors together for even stronger preparedness.  The class takes 6 sessions, usually given over several weeks, two nights per week, followed by a Drill Day. Note that you can complete CERT classes in any jurisdiction that offers them, then register with WPV-CERT.

WPV-Ready Classes

WPV-Ready works to reach all residents of our district, helping them reach a basic level of emergency preparedness. WPV-Ready gives classes, helps people make emergency plans, and helps them get appropriate supplies and equipment for emergencies. First Aid and CPR with AED classes are offered through the WPV-Ready program. All WPV-Ready classes also appear on this Events page.

FEMA Online Classes

FEMA offers some very useful classes through their online Independent Study Program (ISP). If you plan to become a Disaster Service Worker (more information on this is coming soon), these classes are highly recommended. They only take a few hours. You will begin by registering on the FEMA site and getting a FEMA Student ID (SID). As you pass classes, please submit a copy of your certificates to WPV-CERT.

American Red Cross (ARC) Classes

The American Red Cross is well known for their First Aid and CPR classes, but they do a lot more than that. You can take online classes in First Aid for Pets. And you can be trained to work in emergency shelters. Once our district has exhausted all we can do as CERTs, how can you help more? This is one great path.
